How We Review

Every guide and review on EcoTech Pulse is written to answer one question: is this worth your money? Here is exactly how we get there, and how the site is funded.

How we research

Our guides and reviews are built from manufacturer specifications, independent lab data where it exists, government and utility data on energy costs, and, for product reviews, direct testing or a thorough cross-reference of verified owner feedback when we can't get a unit in hand.

What we look at

What our scores mean

9.0–10Outstanding. Best in class. We'd recommend it to almost anyone it suits.
8.0–8.9Excellent. A great choice with minor trade-offs.
7.0–7.9Good. Solid, but a competitor may suit you better.
6.0–6.9Decent. Worth it only in specific situations or on sale.
Below 6Not recommended. Better options exist at the same price.

Keeping reviews current

Prices, models and incentives change often. We revisit guides when products are updated or new options arrive, and show an "Updated" date at the top of anything we've revised. If you spot something out of date, tell us and we'll fix it.

How we make money

EcoTech Pulse is free to read and reader-supported. Some links are affiliate links: if you buy through one we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. Commission never affects a score or whether we recommend something, and we don't accept payment for reviews. Full details are in our affiliate disclosure.
